SCHENECTADY – The man shot and killed last week in Schenectady’s Mont Pleasant neighborhood was identified by police Monday as a Menands resident.

Rasheem Cotman, 38, of Menands, was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a car that crashed into a home on Third Avenue Wednesday night, police said.

Police offered no further information on the investigation Monday. No arrests had been made.

Police were called to the area of Davis Terrace and Third Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday for reports of shots fired and of a vehicle that had crashed into a house, police said.

Officers found the car at 1604 Third Ave. It had crashed into the home’s porch.

Inside, officers found Cotman. He was treated at the scene, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police have asked anyone with information to contact investigators at 518-788-6566.
