
The Mohawks came back from a 2-1 deficit in the first period to defeat Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake/Ballston Spa 6-3 in the first round of the Section II Division I ice hockey tournament at the Schenectady County Recreational Facility on Monday.
Paolo Coppola had two goals for the Mohawks, who got one goal apiece from Andrew Velasco, Nate Dominikoski, Peter Hans and Brayden Kehoe. Jack Clark and Ryan Wilbur both had a pair of assists. Goalie Alex Doehla made 22 saves.
The No. 9-seeded Mohawks, who outscored BH-BL/BS 3-0 in the second period to take control, will play No. 1 Shenendehowa at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Clifton Park Arena.
Also on Monday, Kyle Millington had three goals and an assist to lead CD Jets past Christian Brothers Academy 6-0.
Cole Davidson had a goal and three assists for the Jets, and Joshua McKinney and Brendan Walsh also scored a goal each.
No. 7 CD will play the No. 2-seeded Storm at 4:15 Thursday at SCRF.
