HALFMOON – A drunk driver rear-ended a state police patrol car early Monday in Halfmoon, state police said.
Two troopers were inside the patrol car at the time. No one was hurt, state police said.
Arrested was Allison L. Bechtold, 45, of Albany. She was charged with one count of aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, state police said.
The incident happened just after 12:30 a.m. Monday, as the troopers were stopped at the traffic light on Vischer Ferry Road, at the intersection with Crescent Road, when the patrol car was struck from behind by another vehicle, state police said.
While the troopers spoke with the other driver, they could smell alcohol. She then was administered field sobriety tests and taken into custody, state police said.
A breath test at the barracks then recorded her blood alcohol content at 0.19 percent, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08, state police said.
She was processed and released to a sober third party and is due in court later.
