
The Siena men’s lacrosse team had a 5-4 lead early in the second half against the 15th-ranked team in the country.
Then the rest of the third quarter happened.
Army West Point outscored the Saints 10-2 in the third to take command on the way to a 20-10 non-conference victory at West Point on Wednesday afternoon.
Christian Watts scored 1:49 into the second half to put Siena up 5-4, but the Cadets rattled off the seven straight goals for a 12-5 lead before the Saints scored again.
Reese Burek, a junior midfielder from Fairport, scored four straight during the big Army West Point run. He finished with four goals, and senior attack Brendan Nichtern finished with 10 points on three goals and seven assists.
Jack Kiernan and Pratt Reynolds each scored three goals for the Saints, who fell to 0-3 and have lost 13 straight. Siena’s last win was over NJIT on Feb. 21, 2020.
Army improved to 2-1.
