LOUDONVILLE — Ahniysha Jackson hit a 3-pointer with 3:12 left to give Siena the lead, and the Saints rallied for a 56-54 MAAC women’s basketball victory over Canisius on Thursday at UHY Center.

The Saints (8-9 MAAC, 8-17 overall) had a 27-23 halftime lead. But the Golden Griffins (2-16, 4-23) outscored the Saints 18-10 in the third quarter to take a 41-37 lead.

The difference in the fourth quarter came down to free throws. Siena was 6 for 8, while Canisius never got to the foul line.

Margo Peterson made a free throw with 2:28 left to make it a two-point Siena lead. Rayshel Brown made a jumper in the paint to give Siena a 55-51 lead with 1:08 left. Dani Haskell hit a 3-point with 47 seconds remaining to pull Canisius within 55-54.

Peterson made 1 of 2 free throws with four seconds left. Canisius had a chance to tie or win it, but Deanna Winston forced a turnover as time expired.

The win avenged an 81-78 loss to Canisius in Buffalo on Jan. 29.

Jackson led Siena with 21 points. Brown had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Haskell scored 14 points for Canisius, and Erika Joseph added 10.
