College lacrosse: UAlbany men, women lose

PHILADELPHIA — Drexel scored four unanswered goals to turn a one-goal deficit into a three-goal lead in the fourth quarter, and the Dragons defeated UAlbany 14-12 in a men’s college lacrosse non-conference game at Vidas Field.

Aidan Coll scored with 8:39 left in the fourth to help Drexel (1-2) tie the score 11-11. Max Semple broke the tie 1:28 later. Casey Waller and Sean Donnelly added goals to give the Dragons a 14-11 lead.

The Great Danes (0-2) trailed 8-5 at halftime, but outscored the Dragons 4-1 in the third quarter to tie the score 9-9. John Prizzi, Jacob Moran, Elijah Gash and Jack Pucci scored in third for the Great Danes.

Moran led the Great Danes with four goals. Graydon Hogg added two goals and two assists.

Coll had five goals and an assist for Drexel. Semple scored four.

UAlbany returns to action Wednesday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Siena in its Tom & Mary Casey Stadium opener.

UALBANY WOMEN LOSE

ALBANY. — Oliva Markert and Fallon Vaughn scored four goals each to help Yale past UAlbany 16-14 in a women’s lacrosse non-conference win at John Fallon Field.

The Great Danes (1-2) had a 6-5 lead after the first quarter. The Bulldogs (2-0) outscored the Great Danes 3-1 in the second quarter to take an 8-7 lead.

Sarah Falk had seven goals and two assists to lead UAlbany, which visits Hofstra next Saturday. Kathryn Sancilio and Hailey Carroll added three goals each.
