LOWELL, Mass. – After almost two years, the streak is over.
The Siena men’s lacrosse team defeated UMass Lowell 14-10 at Cushing Field on Sunday afternoon for its first victory since Feb. 29, 2020, stopping a 13-game losing streak that included the first three games of this season.
Christian Watts scored four goals, and Pratt Reynolds scored three for the Saints.
Siena took control of the game by outscoring UMass Lowell 7-3 in the second quarter for a 10-4 halftime lead.
After the River Hawks pulled within 4-3 in the second, the Saints scored three straight, including two goals from Nick Casner.
Watts scored back-to-back goals – his ninth and 10th of the season – spanning the end of the third quarter and beginning of the fourth to give Siena a 13-6 lead.
Chris Yanchoris made 17 saves for the Saints.
Siena, which went 0-8 last season, had not won since a 12-5 victory over NJIT during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.
