
LOUDONVILLE — Siena’s ability to keep the lead played a big part in the Saints’ 11-9 women’s lacrosse win over La Salle at Hickey Field on Saturday.
After the Saints took a 4-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, La Salle twice closed the gap to one goal in the second quarter, but Siena answered back each time on goals by Jordan Bentley and Katy Wangsness.
Mary Soures led Siena (3-5) with five goals and one assist. Wangsness finished with two goals and an assist, while Bentley notched two goals and a team-high four draw controls. Grace Dobrzynski had four assists. Ally Mervine made 12 saves.
Siena travels to Wagner on Wednesday.

UALBANY MEN FALL
ALBANY — UAlbany never got closer than two goals behind in losing its America East men’s lacrosse opener to Binghamton 18-10 at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium.
The Bearcats (1-0 league, 3-4 overall) scored the first three goals and led 7-2 with 5:17 left in the second quarter before the Great Danes got goals from Nick Karnes, Camden Hay and Corey Yunker in a span of 3:26 to close it to 7-5 by halftime.
Binghamton opened up late in the third quarter with a three-goal spurt of its own in about a minute and a half.
Hay led UAlbany (0-1, 1-5) with four goals and an assist, while Yunker added three goals and two assists.
