Siena falls to Canisius in MAAC men’s lacrosse opener

BUFFALO — Nathan Conry’s goal with 12:07 left in the fourth quarter snapped a 7-7 tie, and Hunter Parucki added an insurance goal with 2:09 to go as Canisius edged Siena 9-8 on Sunday in the MAAC men’s lacrosse opener for both teams at Demske Sports Complex.

The Saints (2-6 overall) got to within one on a Christian Watts goal with 31 seconds left, but ran out of time before they could get an opportunity at the tying goal.

Third-quarter goals by Watts and Jack Kiernan gave Siena a 6-5 lead. But goals 29 seconds apart by John McCain and Keegan Kozack helped Canisius (2-6 overall) regain a one-goal lead.

Pratt Reynolds tied it for Siena 1:15 into the fourth quarter.

Watts led the Saints with four goals.

The Saints return to action at 7 p.m. Saturday at Marist.
