The car had been westbound in the curb lane when the crash occurred. The driver and a witness from another vehicle both told police the pedestrian was attempting to run across the dark roadway when the crash occurred. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk.

The Colonie Police Traffic Division is investigating. Police said Monday it appeared pedestrian error and environmental conditions were factors in the crash.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has information is asked to contact police at 518-782-2620.
