TROY — The Tri-City ValleyCats’ bobblehead collection will grow this year to include former Shenendehowa High School standout Ian Anderson, who helped the Atlanta Braves win last year’s World Series.

The ValleyCats franchise, which plays its 20th season this year, announced Monday that Anderson and Kiké Hernández bobblehead nights are planned for July 13 and August 17, respectively.

Anderson was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 MLB amateur draft, then debuted for the Atlanta Braves in 2020. Shortly before the Braves drafted Anderson, the right-handed pitcher led the Plainsmen to Section II and regional championship wins at the ValleyCats’ home Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. Anderson and the Plainsmen won the Class AA state championship that year.
