Rotterdam Town Supervisor Mollie Collins was recognized by the board Wednesday evening with a proclamation marking her as the first female leader the town has had in its over 200-year history.

Collins received flowers as well.

“I was honored to be recognized as the first woman Supervisor in the Town of Rotterdam at our recent Town Board Meeting,” Collins said in an emailed statement. “Rotterdam is my hometown and my goal all along has been to ensure that our community is a place that everyone is proud to call home. Rotterdam is a welcoming place and maybe my recent election to Supervisor will serve as an example that our community supports the right person for the job, regardless of skin color, national origin or gender.  I believe that alone gives us reason to be proud.”
