AMSTERDAM – The second of two people charged in connection with a New Year’s week kidnapping and torture case in Fulton County has now been charged with related allegations based in Montgomery County, state police said Wednesday.
Justin J. Wilson, 31, of Gloversville, was formally charged Tuesday with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree aggravated sexual abuse, first-degree unlawful imprisonment and second-degree conspiracy, state police.
Those charges are in addition to the long list of charges he continues to face in Fulton County, officials said.
The new charges against Wilson relate to allegations that he assaulted and attempted to kill the victim at the Knights Inn in Amsterdam during the same time period as the New Year’s week kidnapping, state police said.
State police investigators determined that the Fulton County acts continued at the Knights Inn after Wilson and Elmore brought the victim there, state police said.
Wilson was arraigned on the new charges and sent back to the Fulton County Jail, where he continues to be held.
Wilson’s co-defendant in the kidnapping case, Nicole K. Elmore, 35, of Gloversville, was previously charged in Montgomery County with most of the same counts related to the Knights Inn allegations.
State police brought the Montgomery County charges against both defendants after consultation with Montgomery County District Attorney Lorraine Diamond, officials said.
The alleged abuse at the motel was part of six days of torture that began with Elmore and Wilson kidnapping the victim from a West Fulton Street home in Gloversville on New Year’s Eve.
The events at the motel occurred during the six days over which they also brutalized the woman at Elmore’s trailer in the town of Perth and at the Knights Inn in Amsterdam for nearly a week before the victim was able to escape in Gloversville, authorities said.
Both Elmore and Wilson face charges of felony kidnapping, assault with intent to disfigure and aggravated sexual abuse in Fulton County. Those charges remain pending.
In statements to police related to the motel, the victim recounted that she was “abused over and over” at the motel. The victim told state police that Wilson attempted to drown her in a hot tub and forced her head into a urine-filled toilet. In addition, the victim told investigators, “They whipped me with a charging cable that was wrapped around a wrench, multiple times,” the statement previously filed reads.
The victim also told police, “Nicole was involved with everything,” the statement read.
