The investigation began after the Town of Halfmoon Buildings and Grounds Department discovered a truck stuck in the mud on the trail and alerted the sheriff’s office, officials said.

The trail is enclosed and posted in a manner to exclude unauthorized vehicles and intruders, officials said.

McPherson was processed and released on appearance tickets and is due in court later.
