High Schools: Niskayuna falls to Shaker in boys’ tennis; Saratoga Srings downs Troy

HIGH SCHOOLS Shaker edged Niskayuna 5-4 in a Suburban Council boys’ tennis match. Roshan Mehta, Sreeram Vudayagiri and Abhinav Thati won in singles for the Blue Bison, and Ben Preceruti and Joe Sung and Jacob McCormick and Connor Bunkoff won at doubles. Singles winners for Niskayuna were Zain Choudy, Vivek Lanka and Masum Shah. Arthur Leung and Mihir Kulkarni were doubles winners for Niskayuna.

Saratoga Springs downed Troy 9-0. Singles winners were Vincent Devito, Schuyler Tetu, Quinn Ragan and Grayson Detrick. The Blue Streaks won two other singles matches by forfeit.

Albany beat Averill Park 8-1 behind singles wins from Masami Surisawa, Damien Ceniza, EJ Cabahug, Aerick Gonzales, Kevin McLeod and Joshua Marx.

Singles wins by Hasan Serville, Vincenzo DiCastanzo and Saeed Shahabuddeen helped Schenectady/Mohonasen beat Schoharie 5-2 in the Colonial Council. Bilal Shohatee and Daniel Garcia and Tariq Ali and Matthew Jodharam won at doubles for Schenectady/Mohonasen.

Queensbury blanked Glens Falls 7-0 in the Foothills Council.  Skyler Allen, Will Lamy, Dylan Stehle, Liam Jones and Noah Crandall were singles winners for Queensbury.

DIXSON LEADS GREENWICH

In Foothills Council girls’ lacrosse, MacKenzie Dixson produced nine goals and an assist in Greenwich’s 14-8 against Johnstown. Mia Manera added three goals in the win and Maeve Kelleher contributed two goals and an assist. Johnstown’s Molly Sweeney had five goals and Nicole Simon scored three. In goal, Greenwich’s Ryan Skiff stopped eight shots and Johnstown’s Nicole Wendolski made 13 saves. Greenwich led 7-3 at halftime.

GRALITZER, COUPERUS LEAD B-P

In a Foothills Council boys’ track and field matchup, Broadalbin-Perth scored a 124-16 win against Gloversville. Recording multiple solo wins for Broadalbin-Perth were Evan Gralitzer (100, 200, pole vault) and Connor Couperus (1,600, 3,200), and each of them contributed to one of Broadalbin-Perth’s three winning relay teams. 

Broadalbin-Perth was a 125-16 winner against Gloversville in Foothills Council girls’ track and field competition. Recording multiple solos wins for Broadalbin-Perth were Erica Lin (100, 200), Emma Frasier (800, 1,500), Victoria Tambasco (100 hurdles, 400 hurdles), Julianna Huckans (pole vault, long jump) and Zoie Tesa (high jump, triple jump).

Shenendehowa defeated Shaker 113-65 in a Suburban Council girls’ track and field meet. Brenna McLaughlin (1,500, 3,000) and Alexa Dochart (shot put, discus) each won two events for Shenendehowa.

Burnt Hills-Ballston lake was a 121-48 winner against Albany in a Suburban Council girls’ matchup, while Albany won 99-66 against BH-BL in the boys’ matchup.

In Colonial Council boys’ action, Lansingburgh won 129-0 against Catholic Central and 84-57 against Schalmont, while Schalmont defeated Catholic Central 106-11.
