SCHENECTADY Peter Burnes scored three goals in the first quarter as Union took a 4-0 lead, and the Dutchmen never looked back to beat Skidmore 19-7 in a Liberty League men’s lacrosse game at Frank Bailey Field on Wednesday.

Burnes finished with six goals and three assists, as did Keaton McCann, who scored the first two goals of the second half to give the Dutchmen a 10-4 lead.

Union has won three straight since a 14-13 loss to RIT to improve to 4-1 in the league and 12-1 overall.

Skidmore, which got two goals and two assists from Charlie McFadden, fell to 0-5 and 5-7.

McFadden’s 29th goal of the season cut it to 11-6 with 4:53 left in the third quarter, but Peter Kip scored two straight for Union, and Hayden Frey scored with 11 seconds left to give the Dutchmen a 14-6 lead heading into the fourth.
