High Schools: 10-run 4th leads Shen baseball to win; BHBL falls (with BHBL photo gallery)

HIGH SCHOOLS Shenendehowa exploded for 10 runs in the fourth inning propelling the Plainsmen to an 11-5 win over Averill Park in Suburban Council action. Nick Barrese went 2 for 2 with two runs scored for Shenendehowa. Nick Jos earned the win, going five innings, giving up four runs, walking two and striking out seven.

Guilderland used a two-run third inning to get past Niskayuna 4-2. Ty Santabarbara doubled in a run prior to Evan Schreivogl’s RBI single for the lead. Dan Keaney picked up the win, going five innings, striking out four for the Dutchmen. Niskayuna’s Dan Quinn and Duncan Munro both went 2 for 3 on the day.

Shaker starter Ryan Bates struck out 14 Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake batters over his six innings, allowing just one hit in the Bison’s 11-1 win. Shaker’s Jack Montalto went 2 for 3 with two runs scored. Timothy Venditti and Luke Haluska were the only two Spartans to rap out hits in the loss.  

A lone run by Colonie’s Tyler Figueroa was all starter Tyler Sausville needed, striking out 11 in a 1-0 win over Columbia. Sausville allowed two hits over seven innings, walking just one batter. Columbia’s Jacob Skarlis gave up three hits, one run, striking out 10 and walking two in the loss.

Joe Gold pitched five shutout innings, giving up one hit as CBA topped Bethlehem 6-2. Lead-off batter Ryan Bilka went 2 for 2 with two runs scored for CBA. Michael O’Shaughnessy went 2 for 4 with a double and four RBIs with Luke Szepek followed, going 2 for 3 with a run scored.

Andrew Wilson struck out 14 and allowed one hit in five innings of work as Scotia-Glenville beat Johnstown 9-0 in the Foothills Council. Zach Place had a double and single for the Tartans. Ryan Allen, Aiden Streeter and Patrick Baum each had a double.

[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”31″ display=”basic_imagebrowser”]A six-run fifth inning pushed Broadalbin-Perth past Hudson Falls 14-4 as Luke Tambasco went 2 for 5 with a triple and four runs scored for the Patriots. Sean Helferich went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBIs for Broadalbin-Perth. 

Aviv Drucker was the winning pitcher as Albany Academy outlasted Lansingburgh 17-14, in Colonial Council action. Geneo Savoca went 3 for 4 with four RBIs for Albany Academy.

Cohoes held off Ichabod Crane, 7-5 as Austin Smith went 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBI in the win. Ichabod Crane’s Gunnar Grether-McLaughlin went 1 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs.

Luke Cassin went 3 for 3 with an RBI as Waterford-Halfmoon defeated Tamarac 3-1, in Wasaren League action. Fordian pitcher Werkie Hayes went the distance, giving up a run on six hits. He struck out nine and walked one. 

Hoosic Valley rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, earning a 7-5 win over Hoosick Falls. Michael Lancaster went 2 for 2 with a double for Hoosic Valley. Tucker Thayne went 2 for 3 with a double, a run scored and three RBI for Hoosick Falls.
