Saratoga Sheriff: Waterford woman, inmate from Schenectady, charged in jail contraband cases

BALLSTON SPA – A Waterford woman and an inmate from Schenectady have been arrested, accused in jail contraband cases at the Saratoga County Jail inmate, Saratoga County Sheriff’s officials said Friday.

Jennifer Landry, 38, of Waterford, and Jason Morelli, 40, of Schenectady, were arrested. Landry faces one count of first-degree promoting prison contraband, along with a misdemeanor, while Morelli faces one count of first-degree attempted promoting prison contraband, officials said.

Landry was arrested March 28 after an investigation into drugs being delivered to an inmate at the jail, officials said.

Officials did not identify the inmate in a press release. But another release issued Friday identified Morelli as accused of attempting to bring contraband into the facility that same day. He was charged April 5, officials said.

In addition to the contraband charge, Landry was also charged then with misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance, officials said.

She was arraigned on that charge and released to return to court later. Morelli was arraigned and ordered back to the jail.

Landry was then arrested again April 11 after a traffic stop in Milton and accused of possessing crack cocaine and heroin, officials said Friday. She was charged with two misdemeanor counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in that case. She was released to return to court later.
