Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo will headline the July 13 performance of the 2022 Summer at the Plaza’s Capital Concert Series. The announcement comes just as the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced that Benatar is being inducted into the hall this year.
Benatar’s vocals and take-no-prisoners attitude, along with Giraldo’s trailblazing artistry as a guitarist, producer and songwriter forged the chemistry and sound that created some of rock’s most memorable hits including “We Belong,” “Invincible,” “Love Is A Battlefield,” “Promises In The Dark,” “We Live For Love,” “Heartbreaker” and “Hell Is For Children.”
Together they have created two multi-platinum, five platinum, and three gold albums, as well as 19 Top 40 hits. They have sold over 30 million records worldwide and have won an unprecedented four consecutive Grammy awards.
Their performance is the third in the Capital Concert Series, organized by the New York State Office of General Services (OGS). The series kicks off on Independence Day with New York State’s Fourth of July Celebration presented by Price Chopper/Market 32. Additional concerts will be held at 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday in July at the Empire State Plaza, starting with moe. on July 6.
