
BURLINGTON, Vt. — The University at Albany’s men’s lacrosse season ended Thursday night, as the fourth-seeded Great Danes lost to top-seeded Vermont 17-7 in the America East tournament semifinals at Virtue Field.
Thomas McConvey had two of Vermont’s first four goals as the Catamounts got out to a 4-0 lead in the first 6 1/2 minutes. Brayden Hogg got UAlbany on the board, but Vermont struck twice more before the quarter ended. UAlbany never got closer than five goals.
McConvey was a problem for UAlbany (5-10) the whole game, finishing with seven goals and one assist. Brock Haley added three goals and three assists for Vermont (10-6), the defending league champion.
Hogg led the Great Danes with three goals. Logan Tucker added two goals, while Corey Yunker and Jack Pucci each had a goal and an assist. Will Ramos started in goal, but was lifted in favor of Tommy Heller late in the first quarter. Heller finished with eight saves.
Vermont will play UMBC in the championship on Saturday.
