CLIFTON PARK – A drunk driver was found driving without tires on the Northway early Saturday, driving on rims, State Police said.
Troopers first spotted the driver by the sparks coming from the passenger side of her vehicle as she drove, State Police said.
The driver’s blood alcohol content tested at 0.24 percent, three times the legal limit, State Police said.
Elizabeth M. Sheyon, 41, of Troy, was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, State Police said.
The stop happened just after 3 a.m. Saturday southbound on Interstate 87 in Clifton Park, State Police said.
The trooper saw sparks coming from the passenger side and stopped the vehicle. As the trooper approached the vehicle, the trooper saw that it did not have any passenger side tires and was driving on its rims, State Police said.
Sheyon showed signs of impairment and the trooper smelled the odor of alcohol, State Police said. She refused roadside sobriety tests.
Sheyon was issued appearance tickets and is to appear in court later.
