WILTON – A Schenectady man choked someone as he violated an order of protection last week in Wilton, then led state police on a chase as he fled the scene, state police said.

The victim in the original incident suffered injury and was evaluated at the scene, police said.

Rahsaan L. Fennicks, 36, of Schenectady, was arrested Friday on felony counts of first-degree criminal contempt and aggravated family offense, along with multiple misdemeanors, police said.

The incident began just before 1 a.m. last Wednesday, May 18, as police responded to a residence in Wilton for a domestic dispute, police said. The investigation determined Fennicks violated an order of protection when he punched and choked the victim, police said.

When troopers arrived, Fennicks got into his vehicle and fled, almost striking a trooper car on his way out, police said.

A short time later, troopers from Clifton Park found Fennicks on the Northway, heading south at a high-rate of speed. He then crashed after exiting and failing to negotiate a roundabout, police said.

Fennicks then led police on a brief foot pursuit before he was taken into custody. He was injured in the crash and taken to Saratoga Hospital. He was formally charged Friday upon his release, police said.

He was arraigned and ordered held on $1,000 bail.
