SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — This is one the Tri-City ValleyCats are going to want to forget.

Good luck with that.

The Schaumburg Boomers, the defending Frontier League champions, outscored Tri-City 18-0 through five innings and polished off a 19-2 victory at Wintrust Field on Friday night.

The ValleyCats avoided a shutout in the seventh inning when Juan Santana hit a two-run home run.

It was small consolation on a night in which Schaumburg scored 18 runs in the first five innings while benefitting from 10 walks and four Tri-City errors.

Only 11 of the Boomers’ 19 runs were earned.
