Down two runs in the top of the ninth, the Tri-City ValleyCats slugged a pair of home runs to rally for a 4-3 victory over the Schaumburg Boomers on Saturday in Schaumburg, Illinois.
Tri-City fell behind 3-0 early before starter Joey Gonzalez and relievers Adam Hofacket, Brac Warren and Trey Cochran-Gill kept the Boomers off the board after the fourth inning. The ValleyCats pulled within 3-1 on a Brantley Bell RBI single in the sixth.
In the ninth, Denis Phipps led off with a walk, and Juan Silverio followed with a game-tying two-run homer. Two outs later, Juan Santana’s solo blast put the ValleyCats on top. Cohcran-Gill worked a perfect ninth for his third save of the season, with Warren earning the win in relief.
The two teams will wrap up their three-game weekend set Sunday.
