Troopers: Underage alcohol sales sting conducted in Schoharie County, one business illegally sells

COBLESKILL The New York State Police conducted an underage alcohol sales sting recently, leading to one business illegally selling alcohol to a minor, state police said Thursday.

Twenty others did not sell, troopers said.

The sting was conducted Saturday at locations throughout Schoharie County, police said.

The business that illegally sold was identified as Yogi Food Mart, Route 20, Esperance, troopers said.

The 20 other establishments that passed were located in Middleburgh (4), Jefferson (2), Esperance (1), Richmondville (3), Cobleskill (6), Howes Cave (1), and Schoharie (3).

Establishments are checked using a trooper in plainclothes and one or several underage operatives who cannot lie about their age or give a false date of birth. When asked for ID, they show their real ID, troopers said.
