MK Lescault scored four goals for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake in its state girls' lacrosse semifinal game Friday.

Manhasset answered a big run by the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake girls’ lacrosse team with an even bigger one, and pulled away for a 20-10 state Class C semifinal win Friday at SUNY Cortland.

Burnt Hills forged a 9-9 tie when MK Lescault, Ella Blesi, Bella Tatro and Maggie Lescault closed the first half with consecutive goals, only to have Section VIII’s Manhasset string six goals to begin the second half.

Burnt Hills (18-4) dipped to 0-3 in state semifinal games, with other setbacks in 2014 (Class B) and 2017 (Class C).

MK Lescault led the Spartans with four goals, Maggie Lescault had two goals and an assist, Blesi notched two goals and Grace Tullock had a goal and an assist.

Maggie Lescault, who scored the game-winning goal on a free position opportunity late in the Spartans’ 8-7 regional championship-game win over Tappan Zee last Saturday, tied Friday’s game at nine in the same manner with 13.4 seconds left in the first half.

Alexis Morton and Annalisa Massaro scored two goals apiece in Manhasset’s six-goal run to start the second half. After Tullock scored for Burnt Hills, Manhasset collected the game’s last five goals, including two from Shea Panzik.

Morton paced Manhasset with six goals and two assists, Panzik had three goals and three assists, Caitlin Barrett had three goals and one assist and Mia LoPinto, Nicole Giannakopolous and Massaro finished with two goals apiece.

Manhasset (14-2) used a 5-1 first-half run to go up 9-5 before Burnt Hills answered with a flurry,  just like that did in the regional win over Tappan Zee, when it trailed 6-2 in the second half.

A boys’ state Class C semifinal matched the same schools Wednesday at UAlbany, with Manhasset prevailing over Burnt Hills 16-5.

With a 9-8 overtime win at SUNY Cortland, the Queensbury girls’ lacrosse team advanced to play for a Class B state championship.

Queensbury (17-0) led Section XI’s Westhampton Beach 4-2 at halftime, but the teams were tied 8-8 at the end of regulation. In overtime, Kady Duffy scored her game-high fifth goal to lift Queensbury into Saturday’s final at 11:30 a.m. against Section V’s Victor (20-1).

Besides Kady Duffy’s five goals, Queensbury received two goals from Kendra Ballard, one score apiece from Meredith Montgomery and Brigid Duffy, and two assists from Delaney Donahue. Olivia Rongo led Westhampton Beach with two goals and two assists.

Queensbury’s Lindsay Bauer made seven saves in the win.

The championship game will also take place at SUNY Cortland on Saturday. Queensbury never previously made it to a state championship game, while Victor lost in the 2014 final. Victor defeated Section III’s Fayetteville-Manlius 15-7 in Friday’s other Class B semifinal. In the win, Victor’s Eva Pronti registered four goals and four assists, Devin Livingston scored four times and Madison Mabbett had three goals and one assist.
