ANOTHER GUN

For those of you who read my column, you know that I love guns. So, l told my wife I found a great gun online. She said, “Another gun.”

This was a single-shot Tuffy 410 Shotgun made by Rossi. My answer for wanting the gun is I can hunt anything with it, which includes small game, pheasants, etc. It only weighs 4 1/2 pounds, and when I put a red dot laser light scope on it, this will allow more accuracy for my hunts. It also uses slugs and BB’s.

It was like Christmas Day when the FFL dealer called to say it was in. I picked it up that day, and was pleased with how it felt. No heavy gun to walk with into the woods anymore.

I want to do a pheasant hunt if I can find one locally. But for the 10 weeks spent in Florida next year, I will hunt turkeys and a hog again.

If I should win on a big lottery ticket, I could pay for an alligator hunt down there. Check out this Tuffy Turkey 410 single-shot online for yourself.

LEAD TACKLE BUY-BACK

Do you have lead fishing tackle sitting around? Join in a regional effort to remove lead tackle from our waters and save loons and other wildlife.

Trade it in for a $10 voucher for non-lead tackle during the Adirondack lead tackle buy-back program.

Sadly, each year, lead poisoning is a leading cause of death in loons, eagles and other species when they eat a fish that has swallowed a lead jig or sinker. Even a few deaths each year from lead poisoning harms the Adirondack loon population because loons are long-lived birds that do not breed until they are at least 6 years old. Successful pairs only have one or two chicks, and many young loons don’t survive their first year.

To receive the voucher, bring an ounce or more of your lead fishing tackle to one of the participating fishing tackle retailers. One voucher per person, per calendar year.

Those participating in the program are:

Blue Line Sports, 81 Main St., Saranac Lake.
