Mohawks sweep PGCBL doubleheader

AUBURN — Frankie Marinelli scored from first base on an error in the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie and give the Amsterdam Mohawks a 2-1 victory over the Auburn Doubledays and a sweep of their Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League doubleheader.

In the opener, Brett Coker’s infield single scored Gage Miller in the fifth inning, snapping a 2-2 tie and giving the Mohawks a 4-2 victory.

Brett Coker gave the Mohawks (14-2) a 1-0 lead in the first on a sacrifice fly. The Doubledays (6-10) tied it in the second.

In the opener, the Mohawks took a 2-0 lead in the second. Michael O’Shaughnessy hit an RBI single, and he later scored on a wild pitch.

The Doubledays scored twice in the fourth to tie the score.

The Mohawks added to their lead in the sixth on a pinch-hit RBI double by Marinelli.

The Mohawks host the Glens Falls Dragons at Shuttleworth Park at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday.
