Maldonado had been removed from the water by the bystanders, who had begun CPR, by the time officers arrived, police said.

With the assistance of the Guilderland Center Fire Department, the victim was moved from the shoreline to a Guilderland EMS ambulance and then on to Albany Med, where he died, police said.

Police were soon told that Maldonado had entered the water there, but was unable to swim. French’s Hollow is an area in Guilderland that is owned by the City of Watervliet.
