Tri-City ValleyCats become first team to lose to Empire State this season

The Tri-City ValleyCats became the first team to lose to the Empire State Greys on Saturday, 9-3, in Frontier League action at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.

Empire State, which had 14 hits on six Tri-City pitchers, moved to 1-35, while the ValleyCats fell to 18-19. 

Brad Zunica’s RBI double cut the Greys’ lead to 2-1 in the sixth, but Empire State erupted for seven runs in the seventh.

Robbie Carling went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs for the Greys. Jesus Lujano was 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run for Tri-City. Pavin Parks went 2 for 5 with a run.
