Albany Empire beat Lions to stop three-game losing streak

ALBANY – After three straight close losses, the Albany Empire got back on the winning track with a 67-48 National Arena League victory over the Columbus Lions at MVP Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Quarterback Sam Castronova threw six touchdown passes and also ran for three scores for the Empire, who held the Lions to just 13 points in the first half.

Albany had lost its previous three games by a combined total of 14 points.

Darius Prince caught three touchdown passes for the Empire, and Marquel Wade had two interceptions.

Captain Dwayne Hollis had five receptions for 54 yards and two touchdowns and, on defense, picked off one pass and broke up two others.
