Clifton Park/Nisky needs CDTA buses

I’m distressed that Clifton Park’s 146 and Niskayuna’s Balltown Road does not have a CDTA bus line.

As a high schooler, I distinctly remember my parents saying “take a taxi” when I accidentally missed the bus and having to take a car to go anywhere (groceries, park, school, work).

Instead, both municipalities rely on large intersections and six-lane highways to get the traffic under control.

With gas prices so high and the possibility of connecting areas of high economic development with aging elders and disabled individuals, along with reducing our dependence on cars, we have an opportunity here to reduce our car usages and substantially help the environment and our local economy.

Shop-Rite has a bus line that goes to Schenectady, though usually, I want to go to Route 5 and the Niskayuna soccer field, though those areas are too far and dangerous for anyone to walk to sensibly.

I know too many seniors who cannot drive but can otherwise walk around and could make it to a well-positioned bus stop.

Mostly around Barcelona Road and Woodcrest Drive in Glenville.

Please town planners, CDTA board and community, let’s embrace public transit and improve our communities with connectivity.

Republicans are showing true colors

On March 1 of this year I sent a letter to the editor (“Republican Party shows true colors”) warning about Republican racism and their love of authoritarianism.

I received an unusual amount of umbrage for mischaracterizing Republicans.

Yet here we are with the Jan. 6 hearings clearly detailing Republican attempts to overthrow our democracy and Republican justices telling women what to do with their bodies.

Do we hear Republicans up in arms at the refusal to peacefully transfer power?

Are they appalled at justices lying to get a seat on the Supreme Court?

What do Republicans complain about? Read “Republican committee demands mural removal” in the June 25 Gazette.

No better advocate than Sen. Tedisco

Schenectady, Niskayuna, and Saratoga County: who is a natural fit for that Senate District? That’s a no brainer, it’s present Sen. Jim Tedisco.

Why? Tedisco forced Speaker Sheldon Silver to provide tax relief when others wouldn’t stand up to him. Sen. Tedisco passed real criminal justice reform in Buster’s Law to protect pets and people because animal abusers go on to hurt people. Just ask the FBI why it’s on their criminal profile.

Jim Tedisco authored the bill to repeal no cash bail and give judges back discretion. He stopped Cuomo’s highway heist to force all New Yorkers to get new plates and pay to keep our number. And Tedisco took on Spitzer “The Steamroller” when he wanted to give driver’s licenses to those here illegally.

Tedisco garnered a $1 million for new Schenectady fire trucks, $50,000 to spruce up Central Park, $100,000 for the Christopher Stewart Media Box at Shenendehowa, and $250,000 for the new Clifton Park Town Center Park, just to name a few areas where he has returned tax dollars back to our community.

For so many reasons, I believe there’s no better advocate and representative for us than Sen. Jim Tedisco.

Re: Clifton Park/Nisky needs CDTA buses,  Yes ,We need new bus line from RT NY 5 in Niskayuna to RT US 4 in Mechanicville. Specially stop at Coburg Village, where are most are Seniors independant living, Schuyler Seniors Residental Healthcare, Twins Lakes Apt. and many other places for Senior Citizen go to shopping at Clifton Country Mall, Halfmoon Crossing Shopping Center, Shopper World Plaza and Village Plaza Shopping Mall. RT NY 146 is most buseist road corridor in Southern Saratoga County in specially Town of Clifton Park and Town of Halfmoon. It is time to be change for public transportation in that busy road corridor for CDTA buses. CDTA must do more research all along NY RT 146 road corridor from NYS RT 5 to US RT 4 near future. Those towns are most fastest growth population in NYS for years. Now is time to do it.

When a letter appears to be a bit to close to a campaign mailer, I think it’s a good idea to look up the author. Michael Dudick is a chiropractor in Clifton Park. In addition, according to his LinkedIn page, he is chairman of the Clifton Park Zoning Board of Appeals and a representative of the Saratoga County Republican Committee.  Yes we can do the same searches for letters supporting candidates of other parties, but I just think it’s important to know whether a letter is really from a “member of the public” or from a political insider.
