SHREVEPORT, La. – The Albany Patroons once led by 11 points early, but Shreveport rallied for a 123-115 win in Game 1 of the TBL Championship Series on Saturday at Gold Dome.
Game 2 of the best-of-3 series is at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Washington Avenue Armory.
Albany, which had the league’s best regular-season record, led 32-28 after the first quarter, but the Mavericks outscored it every quarter thereafter, and 3-point shooting was a big reason. Shreveport was 17 of 28 (60%) on 3-pointers, while Albany was 7 of 20.
Predictably, Albany tried to use its size and scored 60 points in the paint. Anthony Moe had a team-high 24 points to go with eight rebounds. Jared Sam had 19 points and nine rebounds.
Davon Dillard and Kameron Williams each added 18 points for the Patroons. AJ Mosby had 14 points and six assists, while Trevis Wyche scored 11 points. Starting guard Mike Williams only played just over four minutes.
Bernard Parks led Shreveport with 33 points. Tyrone Jordan added 28.
