SCHENECTADY – The Schenectady County Legislature announced a plan last week to hold a series of its regular monthly meetings at locations in each legislative district.
The first will be the legislative body’s Tuesday, July 12 meeting, which will take place at the Duanesburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 130 Cole Road, in the village of Delanson at 7 p.m., according to a county press release.
“Our goal is to make our legislative meetings even more accessible to our residents, especially those who are unable to travel to the County Office Building where our meetings are normally held,” said Anthony Jasenski, chair of the legislature, in the prepared statement. “We started streaming the meetings live and now we’re working to hold a meeting in each legislative district this year so it’s easier for residents to participate.”
Schenectady County is split into four legislative districts. Delanson falls into District 4, which also includes the towns of Duanesburg, Princetown and Rotterdam. Districts 1 and 2 divide the city of Schenectady, while District 3 encompasses the towns of Glenville and Niskayuna and the village of Scotia.
Meetings will continue to be live-streamed, even as they hit the road, according to Erin Roberts, county director of public communications . If internet connection issues arise – stopping the livestream – the full recording of the meeting will be available the following day on the county YouTube channel, Roberts said via email.
