SCHENECTADY — Storied Coffee is closing its Upper Union Street shop to focus on its original Scotia location.

The locally-owned shop announced on Facebook that Saturday will be the last day of operation at its 1671 Union St. location.

Rich and Christine Sarnacki opened the doors of the first Storied at 145 Mohawk Ave. in Scotia in February 2019. When their neighbor Anne Brenner relocated her home decor shop, b.inspired, from Mohawk Avenue to Union Street, they opened a second coffee shop in part of her space in December 2020.

In the Facebook post Saturday, they said they wished they could keep going on Union Street but made the difficult decision to close so they could shift focus and remain sustainable.

“We’ve been blessed to provide a neighborhood space for the last year and a half in partnership with our friend Anne, who will remain right here with her wonderful store, and we’re incredibly grateful for your patronage and for sharing our vision for a unique retail/cafe space on Union St.,” they wrote.

They said they plan to expand the hours at the Scotia location and operate at markets and pop-up events.
