FD: Three pets die in Sunday Schenectady fire; Residents, firefighters unhurt

SCHENECTADY – Three pets died in a fire Sunday morning in Schenectady’s Mont Pleasant neighborhood, Schenectady Fire Department officials said Tuesday.

No residents or firefighters were hurt, officials said.

Firefighters responded at about 8:45 a.m. to 1120 Cutler St. for a reported structure fire, officials said.

They soon learned that three pets were still in the home and one person was unaccounted for, officials said. Crews immediately began a search and began to fight the fire. 

They extinguished the blaze in 20 minutes.The unaccounted-for person left the building unharmed, but the three pets did not survive, officials said.

The Red Cross responded and assisted six people who lived in the home.

The Schenectady Fire Department was assisted by the Schenectady Police Department and Mohawk Ambulance.

The fire was the fourth fire the department responded to in 11 days, officials said.
