
EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Tri-City ValleyCats belted five home runs Friday as they continued their hot play coming out of the Frontier League All-Star break by beating the Evansville Otters 13-Y.
The ValleyCats have gone 6-1 since the start of the second half of the season. They are 3-1 on their six-game Midwest road trip. They took two of three from the Joliet Slammers.
Tri-City took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a pair of home runs. Cito Culver hit a solo shot, and Pavin Parks belted a two-run blast.
The home run parade continued in the second inning when Jesus Lujano hit a solo shot.
Brad Zunica hit a two-run homer in a three-run seventh that gave the ValleyCats a 10-4 lead. Brantley Bell added a two-run homer in the eighth.
Bell, Lujano and Zunica all had two hits each to lead the ValleyCats’ 10-hit attack.
The ValleyCats also took advantage of four errors committed by the Otters to score five unearned runs.
The teams meet again at 7:35 p.m. Saturday.
