TOWN OF AMSTERDAM – A Massachusetts woman and a juvenile have been charged robbery in the town of Amsterdam in connection with the theft of a phone being sold on Facebook Marketplace, Montgomery County Sheriff’s officials said.

The theft resulted in injuries to the victim after he attempted to keep the phone, but was dragged by the vehicle the suspects were using, officials said.

Officials identified the woman charged as Lynneiah E.R. Green, 20, of Adams, Mass. She was charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree assault, felonies, along with misdemeanor petit larceny. The juvenile, who was not named due to his age, faces the same charges, officials said.

The incident happened Sunday. Deputies responded to the scene for a report of the theft of a cell phone being sold over Facebook Marketplace.

The investigation then led to Green and the juvenile. Investigators located both. They were arraigned and released to return to court later.

The sheriff’s office noted in a release that the department’s lobby is designated as an internet purchase exchange location and is under 24/7 surveillance. Other departments have similar spaces.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Capital Region Crime Analysis Center.
