
TROY — Brad Zunica hit an RBI single with the bases loaded and no one out in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday to give the Tri-City ValleyCats an 8-7 Frontier League victory over the New Jersey Jackals at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.
Brantley Bell started the ninth with a single to center field. Pavin Parks followed with a double to center field.
After Denis Phipps was intentionally walked, Zunica delivered his game-winning hit.
Phipps gave the ValleyCats the lead in the first inning on a three-run homer.
The Jackals rallied to take a 4-3 lead. Jason Agresti had an RBI single in the second, Dalton Combs hit a two-run homer in the third and Joe Simone had an RBI groundout.
Tri-City regained the lead in the seventh. Austin Elder tied it with a sacrifice fly, and Bell gave them the lead with a three-run double.
The Jackals got two runs back in the eight on an Alfredo Marte two-run homer and an Agresti RBI groundout.
The two teams continue their three-game series at 7 p.m. Saturday.
