ALBANY — Juan Fuente tripled home Luis Sena in the top of the eighth inning to break a scoreless tie and lift the Albany Thunder to a 2-0 victory over the Albany Athletics in Game 1 of the Albany Twilight League championship series at Bleecker Stadium on Saturday.
Fuente came home on Ervin Santana’s single.
Thunder starter Victor Padilla went the distance. He allowed two hits and struck out four.
A’s starter Chris Salamida also pitched a complete game. He struck out 11 and gave up seven hits.
Game 2 in the best-of-five series takes place at 7 p.m. Sunday at Bleecker.
