Summer scene with Indiana Nash: Aug. 10, 2022


Summer in the Capital Region is packed with things to do, at the track and away from it. On any given day, there’s plenty to choose from between horse racing, live music, festivals, fairs and theater.

Here are several fun options for today.


The Philadelphia Orchestra will perform Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony at 7:30 p.m. at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Tickets start at $45 at


Peggy & The Delivery Boys will perform on the Purdy’s Summer Concert Stage at the Saratoga Race Course. Gates open at 11 a.m. 

The Budweiser Clydesdales will make their return to Saratoga Race Course. They will be stationed inside select Saratoga admission gates to greet fans from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 

Join Grammy nominee Jay Rodriguez for a night of Jazz at Caffe Lena starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are by donation and will benefit the Backstretch Employee Service Team. The show will also be live-streamed. For more visit  


The final “Take a Bite” event for the summer in downtown Glens Falls will take place from 5- 7 p.m. Select restaurants will offer “small plates” priced anywhere from $1-$5. For more information visit

Grand Central Station will perform at Freedom Park beginning at 7 p.m. as part of the free Freedom Park Summer Concert Series.

The Lake George Music Festival presents the Emmy-award-winning trio Time for Three (Tf3) for the opening night of the 2022 season. They will perform a free show with the Lake George Music Festival Orchestra at Shepard Park Amphitheater at 7:30 p.m.
