Ballston man charged with assaulting 1-year-old

BALLSTON — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department said it has arrested a Ballston man for striking and obstructing the breathing of a 1-year-old.

On Tuesday at around 9:45 p.m. the Sheriff’s Department arrested William R. Burden Jr., 30. He was charged with one count of second-degree assault and one count of second-degree strangulation, both felonies.

The arrest came after a complaint was lodged concerning the child on Tuesday, police said. They said the assault caused physical injury to the child.

Burden was arraigned in Milton Court Town in front of Judge Timothy Brown. Burden was  sent to the Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail, $40,000 bond and $250,000 secured bond, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Burden will appear in Ballston Town Court at a later date
