Summer scene with Indiana Nash: Aug. 11, 2022


Summer in the Capital Region is packed with things to do, at the track and away from it. On any given day, there’s plenty to choose from between horse racing, live music, festivals, fairs and theater.

Here are several fun options for today.


The Philadelphia Orchestra performs Beethoven’s Eroica with special guest violinist Randall Goosby at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $41. 


World jazz music collective Heard will perform at 6 p.m. on the lawn outside at the Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery as part of the free Upbeat on the Roof summer series.

A free group bicycle ride will start at 6 p.m. at Trek Bicycle on Church Street as a part of the Ride and Wrench series. After the ride, the group will learn basic maintenance skills, with tool giveaways and refreshments. The event is free to attend.

Erin Harkes will perform an acoustic solo at 6:30 p.m. at the Diamond Club Grill at the Embassy Suites.


The Hyde Collection will offer docent-led tours from 1 – 3 p.m. General admission is $12. 

Garland Nelson’s Reflection: Motown Tribute will take the stage at The Crossings of Colonie starting at 6 p.m. This performance is part of the free Concerts at The Crossing 2022 series.

Sirsy will perform for free in Iron Spring Park from 6-8 p.m. as part of the 2022 Ballston Spa Concerts in the Park concert series.
