Albany Athletics win Northeast World Series opener

WATERBURY, Conn. — Chris Salamida pitched a complete-game four hitter Friday, leading the Albany Athletics to a 2-0 victory over the Braintree White Sox in the opening game of the Northeast World Series at Municipal Stadium.

Salamida struck out eight, and worked out of bases-loaded, one-out jam in the second.

The A’s scored their runs in the sixth on an error and a Mike Talavera hit a sacrifice fly.
