SCHENECTADY — Those interested in purchasing an electric or hybrid vehicle will have an opportunity to learn more about the automobiles next month during the NYS Capital District Drive Electric Week and Sustainability Fair.

The event, scheduled to take place during the Schenectady Greenmarket on Sept. 25, will raise awareness of the benefits of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Members of the Capital District EV Drivers Group will be in attendance along with electric vehicle drivers from across the northeast, who will display over 30 personal vehicles during the event. The Capital District Transportation Authority and Nemer Volkswagen will have opportunities to drive and ride in electric vehicles.

The event will also highlight local schools, including Hudson Valley Community College’s Green Tech Program as well as high school sustainability clubs from across the area. Solar Sal, an electric solar-powered boat, will also be on display.

Representatives from local car dealerships along with dozens of vendors will be in attendance.

The city of Schenectady, Schenectady Greenmarket, Livingston Energy Group and the Capital District EV Drivers Group are sponsoring the event.

Next month’s event will take place on Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
