Summer in the Capital Region is packed with things to do, at the track and away from it. On any given day, there’s plenty to choose from between horse racing, live music, festivals, fairs and theater.

Here are several fun options for today.

PICK OF THE DAY 

Rock bands REO Speedwagon and Styx with special guest Loverboy will perform at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. The concert begins at 6:45 p.m. with tickets starting at $29.50.

AROUND SARATOGA

Red Haired Strangers will perform on the Purdy’s Summer Concert Stage at the Saratoga Race Course. Gates open at 11 a.m.

The Saratoga Farmers’ Market will be up and running at High Rock Park from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. More than 15 vendors will be selling local produce and other goods. Admission is free.

ELSEWHERE

The New York State Food Festival kicks off at 11 a.m. at the Empire State Plaza, with dozens of food trucks and vendors. The Eli Young Band performs at 5 p.m. 

The Lustre Kings are set to play Freedom Park in Scotia at 7 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or a blanket.
