SCHENECTADY – An SUV struck a construction alert trailer Friday morning on Interstate 890 and the driver had to be extricated by firefighters.
State police described the driver’s injuries as non-life-threatening.
No construction workers were hurt, police said.
The crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. in the area of Exit 4 in Schenectady, police said.
The investigation determined the car had been headed eastbound on Interstate 890 when it struck a state Department of Transportation lane closure alert trailer, police said.
Members of the South Schenectady Fire Department responded and used hydraulic extrication tools on the SUV’s door to get it open.
A third vehicle also sustained damage as it struck road debris caused by the original accident, police said.
