
Summer in the Capital Region is packed with things to do, at the track and away from it. On any given day, there’s plenty to choose from between horse racing, live music, festivals, fairs and theater.
Here are several fun options for today.
PICK OF THE DAY
Encanto: The Sing-Along Film Concert will take place at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $25.
AROUND SARATOGA
A series of special events and fundraising opportunities will take place at the Saratoga Race Course to commemorate Ukraine Independence Day, which marks Ukraine’s declaration of independence from the former Soviet Union.
Pitney Meadows Community Farm will host “Saving Seeds” as part of their Wondering, Wandering Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The free family program offers the opportunity to collect seed heads and ripe fruits to save their seeds for next year’s garden. Theresa Nellis, author of “Keeper of the Mirror: The Portly Lady,” will visit Northshire Bookstore in Saratoga at 6 p.m. to celebrate the second book in her young adult fantasy series.
ELSEWHERE
The Washington County Fair continues from 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. with entertainment, 4-H displays, food, music and rides at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Admission is $15 for a day pass.
The first performance of “Pete (her) Pan” will take place at the Cohoes Music Hall. This new musical presents the classic legend of Peter Pan and Wendy through the eyes of Wendy’s daughter, Jane. Tickets start at $18.
SIRSY will perform in Scotia’s Freedom Park at 7 p.m. as a part of the free Summer Concert Series.
