Troopers: Delanson man tried to steal siding off Duanesburg home for scrap, faces felony

DUANESBURG A report of a suspicious person at a Duanesburg home Saturday led to the arrest of a Delanson man on a felony charge, New York State Police said.

James Dashnaw, 51, of Delanson, was arrested and charged with one count each of third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, along with misdemeanor conspiracy, trespass and burglar tool possession, police said.

The investigation began just after 9 a.m. Saturday when troopers got a call for a man removing siding from a house on Western Turnpike in Duanesburg, police said.

The investigation determined Dashnaw had been trespassing on the property to steal siding to sell as scrap metal.

Dashnaw was processed and held awaiting arraignment.
