OTTAWA, Ontario – Clay Fisher’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning, which followed the Tri-City ValleyCats’ third error of the night, plated the winning run as the Ottawa Titans beat Tri-City, 3-2, on Thursday night at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Park in Ottawa to salvage a split in a four-game series between the two clubs.
Brantley Bell hit a two-run home run in the third inning for the ValleyCats (49-37), but that was all the scoring the team could muster against Ottawa pitchers Gavin Sonnier, Evan Grills, Grant Larson and Kevin Escorcia, who combined on a three-hitter.
Pavin Parks had both of the other hits for the ValleyCats.
The ValleyCats continue their 10-game road trip with a three-game weekend series at the New York Boulders, with the first game set for Friday at 7 p.m.
